Classic Hip-Hop has spread to San Antonio, TX as Univision flips Spanish CHR “95.1 Latino Mix” KGSX Comfort, TX to “Yo 95.1” KMYO.
The move enables Univision to have 95.1 flank sister “98.5 The Beat” KBBT against iHeartMedia Rhythmic Hot AC “Hot 104.5” KZEP. KZEP debuted its current format in August and surged to second in the market in the September Nielsen Audio PPM ratings with a 6.9 share but has been on a downward trend since. KZEP and KBBT were tied in the November monthlies with a 5.1 share.
The new format and brand duplicates Univision’s “Yo 101.3” KKRG Albuquerque, the first station this year to launch the Classic Hip-Hop format.
The call letters are not KMYO, but it’s a pretty good station.
Lots of variety, but I think they may wanna go a little older into the hip-hop genre. Too many 2000’s songs.
The website includes many references to KMYO. Univision applied for the KMYO call letters on December 12 and the KCOR-FM calls on 12/19. Likely a two step shuffle to move the KMYO calls in place.
