Davis Media will pull the plug on News “Port City Radio” 103.7 WBNE Wrightsville Beach/Wilmington, NC at midnight on Saturday, January 31.
WBNE will flip to a simulcast of sister AAA “98.3 The Penguin” WUIN Oak Island, but that could potentially be a temporary fill. Davis operates WBNE via LMA from Sea-Comm Media, which stated in an FCC filing last fall that it intends to sell WBNE to Sunrise Broadcasting. That sale has not taken place yet as Sunrise must first divest one of its current Wilmington market stations. However, the company registered Sunny1037.com and Sunny1037FM.com in October for a potential relocation of the format of AC “Sunny 104.5” WILT Wilmington.
Davis Media intends to transfer some of the Port City Radio resources to their PortCityDaily.com and other radio stations. The News format debuted in March 2013 on 93.7 WNTB/106.3 WLTT before moving to 1180 WSFM/95.9 W240AS that December and finally to 103.7 in March 2014.
