Rogers and Bell are bringing their national CHR brands to Vancouver.
This morning Rogers rebranded CHR “Sonic 104.9” CFUN-FM Chilliwack and its two boosters 92.5 CFUN-1 Abbotsford and 104.9 CFUN-2 Vancouver as “Kiss Radio“. The move places the station under the “Kiss” brand utilized by Rogers CHRs in Kingston and Toronto as well as seven Hot AC’s across Canada. The company most recently rebranded 102.3 CKY-FM Winnipeg under the “Kiss” umbrella.
The rebranding at CFUN follows reports from PugetSoundRadio.com that Bell Media will return their “Virgin Radio” branding to the market on CHR “94.5 The Beat” CFBT on March 5.
The Virgin branding had been utilized on 95.3 CKZZ until the spinoff of the station to Newcap in March 2014 following Bell’s merger with Astral. Bell retained the rights to the Virgin brand in Vancouver as it utilizes it on six other stations across the country.
Is it just me but is CFUN’s website not working?
It was working earlier, but does appear to be down right now.
I didn’t have a chance to mention it earlier, but the site came back online last night–and is currently still up.
And, for those who may not have found out elsewhere, Rogers flipped CHTT–its Variety Hits (Jack) station in Victoria–to CHR (also as Kiss, but still operated separately).
