Bell Media has returned the “Virgin Radio” CHR brand to Vancouver.
“94.5 The Beat” CFBT rebranded as “Virgin Radio 94.5” just before 9:00 this morning. The move brings the branding previously used in the market by “Z95.3” CKZZ until it was spun-off to Newcap following Bell’s merger with Astral. CFBT becomes Bell’s seventh station across Canada utilizing the Virgin Radio branding.
What’s in a name? Listeners across Vancouver can be assured that as Bell Media Radio raises the curtain on 94.5 Virgin Radio in the Vancouver market, announced today, the station is poised to deliver great music, the entertaining programs, and the same beloved personalities familiar to listeners of 94.5 The Beat Vancouver. Changing over station names, as part of a long-planned rebrand, 94.5 Virgin Radio is committed to showcasing a slew of musical star power featuring hot , modern artists, delivered by listeners’ favourite on-air personalities, and all aspects of the existing station that listeners know and love.
“In the midst of our rebrand, listeners can be assured that ‘The Beat Goes On’ under a fresh new banner, with the same high-energy blend of music, personalities, and programs that has made 94.5 such a success,” said James Stuart, Regional Vice-President, Radio and TV Operations, Bell Media Vancouver. “We look forward to continue serving our loyal listeners as we introduce the Virgin brand to the Vancouver airwaves, and we welcome new listeners across the city to enjoy the all-new 94.5 Virgin Radio.”
Cool, sexy, stylish, and bold, 94.5 Virgin Radio upholds and expands on its relationship with audiences by maintaining its role as an invested community partner, telling local stories, and sustaining its ongoing dialogue with loyal listeners. Bell Media Radio will continue to serve up a format they know and enjoy, now under the namesake of the internationally recognized Virgin Radio brand.
Someone decided to just take the old site (http://www.thebeat.com) down altogether, and not even redirect to the new one–even though there apparently were some items posted this morning, before the switch.
There’s now, at least, a redirect for the homepage.
