Hall Radio Sports “ESPN 1490” WLPA Lancaster, PA will flip to Adult Standards on Wednesday, April 1.
LancasterOnline reports that WLPA is already running promos for the change, which will see the station switch to “America’s Best Music”. Listeners are being directed to switch over to sister Sports “ESPN 92.7” WLPA-FM Starview. The FM flipped to Sports last fall and recently was named the local affiliate for Philadelphia Phillies baseball.
It seems to me that WLPA-1400 would only simulcast WLPA-92.7 for a short period, to transition it’s audience to FM, before flipping the AM to something else.
I would think the new standard format for the AM will likely be automated or syndicated, although if there’s one person whose full-time job will be programming the AM as a mostly-auto,mated format, he/she might do a live drive-time show.
