iHeartMedia has shifted Classic Rock “94.7 The Brew” KBRU Oklahoma City to Active Rock.
Now utilizing the “Man Up!” positioning that originated at sister “Louie 103.7” W279AQ St. Louis, the move expands KBRU’s playlist to include Rock hits from the 70s through 2000s focusing mainly on 1990s tracks.
Out with the musical change is the syndicated Lex & Terry morning show. KBRU was the lowest rated commercial FM in the Oklahoma City market with a 1.5 share in the 2014 Fall Phase 1 Nielsen Audio ratings.
The Brew is such a stupid name…I wish they would bring back the name 95X. Not going to miss Lex and Terry either. I wonder if this station would do better if it cold copied the play list of it’s Tulsa sister station 97.5 KMOD. Lost of people in Oklahoma City love KMOD when it comes in under the static, Also KMOD’s morning show (BMMS) is hilarious, especially the female personality “Sam.”
People in OKC don’t listen to Tulsa radio and vice versa.
Besides, DXing is for geeks. Ordinary people want a clear local signal.
I know of a few people in OKC that love KMOD. It’s not that unheard of. It’s not that hard to get KMOD in OKC.
That’s like saying “the Oakland Raiders have lots of fans in Los Angeles”. 97.5 from Tulsa is blocked in OKC by a rimshot on 97.3.
The Brew didn’t fare well against 96.9 Bob FM — another OKC rimshot — so iHeart will have The Brew go up against longtime rocker KATT.
*Lots
Yes- I know DXing would not be a viable solution… I was just suggesting that 94.7 the Brew present a similar playlist of Tulsa’s KMOD.
