The flow of changes in Austin, TX over the past year has been seemingly never-ending as Clear Channel, Emmis, and Border Media have made changes affecting 11 frequencies in the market over the past year. The first move was made last September when Rhythmic AC “Jammin 105.9” KFMK flipped to Rhythmic CHR “105.9 The Beat”. Paired with Emmis’ flip of Rhythmic “Hot 93.3” to Spanish in November, “105.9 The Beat” has surged towards the top of the ratings in Austin.
With The Beat’s success and Clear Channel still needing to spin-off the 105.9 frequency to comply with its private buyout in 2008 they have announced a frequency swap moving “The Beat” to 102.3 KPEZ, currently home of AC/CCM hybrid “The River” which will shift down to 105.9 on Monday 5/31.
