Blackburn Radio has pulled the plug on AC “95.1/100.7 Lite-FM” 95.1 CKUE-FM Chatham-Kent/100.7 CKUE-1 Windsor, ON to Variety Hits “Cool-FM“.
CKUE-FM had flipped from Rock to AC in January 2014 but was unable to make inroads in the market. With the change, morning host George Brooks has announced his retirement from radio after 39 years in the Chatham-Kent market.
Jay Stevens has been named Program Director for the new “Cool” format, which will focus on pop/rock hits from the 1980’s through today with core artists listed as “Bon Jovi, Queen, INXS, Pink, John Mellencamp, Def Leppard, Fleetwood Mac and Maroon 5”. Stevens stated in a press release, “I’m extremely proud to return to my roots and help a wonderful team bring a cool new brand to the Windsor and Chatham markets. By playing it all, we’ll be many things to many people, but the one constant is that we’ll definitely be cool.”
