Update 2:30pm: Despite an immediate LMA being agreed to in December and the acquisition approved by the in February, WYEZ GM Matt Sedota checks in to state that the format change to “94.5 The Tide” was made by Fidelity Broadcasting, which continues to operate WYEZ and sister Soft AC “Easy 105.9/100.7” WEZV North Myrtle Beach/WGTN-FM Andrews. What this means for the pending sale to Compass we do not know.
Original Report 11:44am: Compass Radio Group has made its first major move since acquiring its three Myrtle Beach, SC stations last December.
Compass has flipped Rhythmic AC “Movin 94.5” WYEZ Murrells Inlet to AC “94.5 The Tide“. The move fills the AC gap in the Myrtle Beach market between Compass’ Soft AC “Easy 105.9/100.7” WEZV/WGTN and Digity Hot AC “Star 92.1” WMYB.
What about B93.5 (WLQB-FM)? B93.5 is an Adult Contemporary radio station, owned by iHeartMedia, serving the Myrtle Beach listening area.
WLQB’s coverage area barely crosses the South Carolina state line. It is no factor in the Myrtle Beach market.
