Neversink will acquire 1340 WALL in a swap for 95.7 W239AC Middletown.
Original Report 8/17: Bud & Juli Williamson’s Neversink Media is acquiring 1340 WALL Middletown, NY from Townsquare Media.
WALL has simulcast sister 1390 WEOK Poughkeepsie in recent years, most recently as Spanish Adult Hits “Juan Hudson Valley“. Neversink will flip the station to an English language format featuring veteran Hudson Valley personality Mark West in mornings. West had been heard on WALL until earlier this year.
The WALL programming will also be heard on three of Digital Radio Broadcasting’s (also owned by Williamson) translators in the region: 94.1 W231BP Chester (Coverage Map), 94.9 W235BI Middletown (Coverage Map), and 105.7 W289BE Ellenville (Coverage Map). All three translators will be fed by Townsquare’s 101.5 WPDH-HD2.
Another of DRB’s translators will be utilized by Townsquare to carry the programming of WEOK.
WALL Radio, 1340 AM, which is licensed to the City of Middletown, is coming back home, to be broadcast locally. For the last several years, the station was actually transmitting from studios in Poughkeepsie.
The return to local programming is thanks to Neversink Media Group, LLC owned by Bud and Juli Williamson of Orange County. “We are thrilled to make this happen and we look forward to working with all of the local businesses that make Middletown and Orange County a good place to live,” said Bud Williamson.
Not only will the legendary WALL Radio be heard on 1340 AM, it will also be heard on 94.9 FM, 94.1 FM and 105.7 FM, plus for those with HD radios, WALL Radio will be heard on 101.5-HD2.
Mark West, 35-year veteran of Hudson Valley broadcasting, will be back on the air doing the wake-up morning show, complete with his duck! “Mortimer and I am excited about coming back home. We will be providing great music along with local and regional news and good conversation,” he said.
Williamson also announced that news coverage will be provided by Hank Gross and his powerhouse Mid-Hudson News Network. “Hank has a long reputation of breaking news before it hits newspapers and he will bring that investigative reporting to our WALL family,” Williamson said.
“WALL Radio is returning to fill a void left by so many radio stations in the Hudson Valley and pledges to bring the most informative and entertaining programming for our listens from Port Jervis to Monroe, Newburgh to Pine Bush and all points in between. As part of this transaction, I am providing Townsquare Media another frequency to continue their Spanish language format.” said
Neversink Media Group also owns Pocono 967 in Stroudsburg, PA, WYNY in Milford, PA and WDLC in Port Jervis, NY. In addition, the Williamsons are principals of Hudson Valley Public Radio, WJZZ – JAZZfm.
