Educational Media Foundation is purchasing two more Los Angeles market translators from Life On The Way Communications. 91.1 K216EM Arcadia/Burbank and 91.1 K216FM Valley Village/Beverly Hills will go to EMF for $75,000. Both translators will rebroadcast EMF’s “Air 1” 92.7 KYLA Fountain Valley. K216EM has a CP to move west to Pasadena, while K216FM holds one to move south to Baldwin Hills.
Trans America Broadcasting Corporation is selling Gospel 1460 KTYM Inglewood/Los Angeles to El
Sembrador Ministries for $5.875 million. KTYM had been sold to Immaculate Heart Radio in April 2014 for $6 million, but that deal became redundant after the purchase of 930 KHJ. IHR will contribute their $400,000 in escrow from their sale agreement to El Sembrador’s purchase. The buyer will begin operating the station with their Spanish Catholic “ESNE Radio” network via LMA on October 1
Townsquare Media is swapping the license for Silent 97.3 KGEE Pecos, TX to Top O’ Texas Educational Broadcasting for 93.7 K229BY Tulia, TX. While K229BY has a CP to relocate north to Happy, that would still place it outside of the Lubbock market. Perhaps a Mattoon Waiver to allow it to rebroadcast News/Talk 940 KIXZ will follow?
Smith and Fitzgerald Partnership is transferring the CP 104.7 W284CM Sayre, PA to Europa Communications for $20,000. Kevin Fitzgerald owns 50% of both companies, so in reality only the $10,000 going to Ben Smith will change hands. W284CM will rebroadcast 91.7 WPAL New Albany, PA.
Another Air1 in LA? This is getting a bit much. It’s like Wal-Mart destroying all the small businesses. I’m all for Christian radio and I’m all for EMF but to have dozens of redundant signals across LA that only reach 4 or 5 miles at a a time is insane. No one is going to change their radio frequency 3 or 4 time son their commute to look for the strongest signal.
Agreed – Where I live I have the choice of five frequencies for the same Christian programming. Keeping in mind each of their signals covers about the same.
