With Pope Francis set to visit Philadelphia later this month, iHeartMedia is launching a temporary “Pope Info Radio“.
Starting on Saturday, September 19, Smooth Jazz “1480 JJZ” 1480 WDAS/106.1 WISX-HD2 will devote its programming to information related to the Papal including his speeches in Washington D.C., New York and Philadelphia between September 24 and September 27. The station will also focus on the traffic issues created by the multiple road closures in the city during the visit.
CBS Radio has also dedicated programming to the visit, however KYW’s “Popecast” is only available on 96.5 WZMP-HD3.
But will WJZZ-1480/WISX-HD-2 return to their previous formats after Pope Francis I returns to Vatican City, or is “Pope Radio” a stunt that will lead to a new format on those frequencies after the Pope leaves (maybe Bloomberg Radio??)
Commercial-free?
