Station Sales
While Save KPLU attempts to raise the money to purchase the station, The University of Washington has filed its application to purchase 88.5 KPLU Tacoma, its three simulcasts, and eight translators from Pacific Lutheran University for $8 million following the sale’s announcement in November. As part of the deal, all current employees will be terminated prior to closing and the KPLU call letters are excluded. The other facilities involved in the deal are 88.9 KPLK Sedro-Woodley, 89.3 KVIX Port Angeles, 90.1 KPLI Olympia, 88.7 K204BI Bellingham, 90.1 K211AP Centralia, 90.3 K212AG Raymond, 92.1 K221FR West Seattle, 96.7 K244EV Arial, 100.9 K265DP Aberdeen, 104.7 K284BM Longview and 105.5 K288GG Mount Vernon.
Marianne Barton’s Mid-Utah Radio will merge into husband Douglas Barton’s Sanpete County Broadcasting Company with Douglas owning 70% and Marianne 30% of the combined company. Mid-Utah will contribute Conservative Talk 980 KSVC Richfield, Country “97.7 The Wolf” KWUT Elsinore, 96.3 K242BJ Rural Garfield, 98.1 K251AQ Elsinore and 107.5 K298AW Beaver UT to the company, while Sanpete owns Farm 650 KMTI Manti, Hot AC “93.7 Sky-FM” KUTC Mount Pleasant, Classic Hits “Eagle 94.5” KLGL Salina and AC 100.5 KMXD Monroe.
Sportsrad Inc. sells “Sports Radio 930” WSFZ Jackson MS to New South Radio for $1.
Eternity Media Group acquires Standards 1220 WABF Fairhope/Mobile AL from Gulf Coast Broadcasting Company for $105,000.
Noah Britt’s Tri-City Radio purchases Sports “1140 The Game” WNWF Destin FL from
Andala Enterprises for $175,000. Tri-City began operating WNWF via TBA in November 2015.
Jadon Broadcasting returns Southern Gospel 1290 KDMS and Country 98.7 KLBQ El Dorado AR to El Dorado Broadcasting for forgiveness of debt and settlement of legal issues between the companies.
Colonial Media + Entertainment acquires Silent 910 WAVL Apollo PA from Evangel Heights Assembly of God for $50,000.
Timber Ridge Ministries sells Southern Gospel “90.1 The Point” WVRS Gore VA to Point FM Ministries for $25,000. The buyer began operating the station last November.
Templo Apostles y Profetas Bethel sells Spanish Christian 88.1 KZGC-FM Garden City KS to Radio Vida Kansas for $50,000.
In order to purchase 94.7 W234CH Girard OH to move to Latrobe PA, LHTC Media is also acquiring Urban AC “Star 94.7” 1330 WGFT Campbell and Silent 1500 WASN Youngstown OH from Helen Bednarczyk for $325,000.
Translator Sales
The translator buying frenzy for AM Revitalization continued with many deals this week. Among the noticeable buyers were Alpha Media spending $370,625 for eight translators from four sellers, Berkshire Broadcasting acquired two Milford PA translators for $215,000, and Saga paying $200,000 for three including one in Milwaukee.
The biggest translator deal comes in Columbus OH where Percy Squire’s Sandblast LP is selling Urban AC/Gospel “95.9 The Drum” W240AX to Salem Media for $350,000. W240AX already rebroadcasts Salem’s 98.9 WTOH-HD4.
Dennis Jackson is transferring his five translators to his Sun Signals LLC. The translators are 92.1 W221CZ South Burlington VT, 102.5 W273BH Middlebury VT, 102.5 W273CN Danbury, 103.1 W276AV Stamford CT and 103.1 W276BV Greenwich CT.

W234AL in North Adams, MA probably would be moving to Eastern Massachusetts if it’s going to rebroadcast WAMG-890 Dedham/Boston or WLLH-1400 Lowell (I suspect there was a typo in the station being rebroadcast; perhaps this was a typo in their sale application to the FCC).
