Update 3/15: After 17+ days of nothing but Elvis, KKOO became “Kool Oldies 99.5” around 11:30 this morning. The station is using Dial Global’s Oldies Plus programming.
Update 2/28: Add KoolOldies995.com to the domain registrations. The site features an illustration of Elvis and procaliming it as the “Future home of something quite COOL”. That site also claims the station will use the KKOL calls instead of KKOO, although that is highly unlikely as Salem uses the calls at 1300 in Seattle and 107.9 in Aiea, HI.
Original Report 2/26: Treasure Valley Broadcasting is shuffling the programming on its stations in the Boise area.
Regional Mexican “La Ley 99.5” KWEI-FM Fruitland, ID has begun stunting with nonstop Elvis music after a few days looping Richie Valens’ “La Bamba”. The Spanish programming has shifted to what was Talk 1450 KIOV as “La Raza“. 1450’s talk programming appears to be moving to what was “ESPN Deportes 1260” KWEI. That station has changed its calls to KTRP and is promoting the return of the Dennis Miller Show on Monday, February 28 at its new website.
Back at 99.5, new KKOO call letters and KKOOradio.com have been applied for and multiple sources in the market have indicated that the station will return Oldies to the market for the first time since “True Oldies 99.1” KQLZ flipped to Modern Rock in September 2009.
All Elvis? Is the station streaming?
They were but the stream appears to have disappeared.
It’s the same loop of songs with a couple of dry liners so far. Here’s audio of what’s being aired. http://nwoidaho.posterous.com/kwei-elvis-stunt-audio
