Update 4/25: WPHR made the move to Talk “Rush Radio 94.7” this morning after stunting for a few hours with nothing but music from the band “Rush”. None of the programming is originating in-house. The station’s schedule is:
5am – 9am: The Morning Rush with Jim Edwards and Brian Mudd simulcasted from sister 1290 WJNO West Palm Beach
9am – 12pm: Glenn Beck
12pm – 3pm: Rush Limbaugh
3pm – 6pm: Sean Hannity
6pm – 9pm: Mark Levin
9pm – 12am: Jason Lewis
12am – 5am: Coast to Coast
Update 4/22: When we are wrong we’re not going to shy away from it. In running down the possibilities for Rush Radio 94.7 we forgot to mention Aloha Station Trust’s WPHR Gifford, FL.
That station, currently Hot AC “Star 94.7” will make the move to News/Talk with the “Rush Radio” branding on Monday, April 25. WPHR main serves the Vero Beach and St. Lucie areas on the east coast of Florida in between West Palm Beach and Melbourne.
Original Report 4/18: The News/Talk to FM shuttle continues to to claim more markets at record speed. Clear Channel is on the verge of adding another market to the list. Their registration last week of RushRadio947.com seems to indicate that 1000 KTOK Oklahoma City or the tandem of 1450 WILM Wilmington and 1410 WDOV Dover, DE will soon be heading to the FM band.
The likely destination appears to be Oklahoma City, where Classic Rock “94.7 The Brew” KBRU has seen its ratings erode continuously over the past year, well behind its two competitors for the Rock audience in the market; Citadel’s 100.5 KATT and Renda’s 107.7 KRXO.
A less likely, but still possible destination is in Delaware where 1450 WILM and 1410 WDOV currently run very similar programming on the pair of AM signals. The addition of the FM signal would give coverage of the northern two thirds of Delaware as well as neighboring portions of Maryland and New Jersey. Should Talk move to FM in Delaware, the country programming currently heard on 94.7 WDSD will most likely shift back to 92.9 replacing Variety Hits “Tom-FM” WRDX. WDSD has already made the move from 94.7 to 92.9 and back to 94.7 in its history. Too much seems to have to happen to make this scenario likely.
Clear Channel also owns WFBQ Indianapolis on 94.7, but market conditions seem to rule the successful Classic Rock station out as a possibility. We’ll put our money on KBRU being the station to take the RushRadio identity on 94.7 in the coming weeks.
I am glad to see that 94.7 Rush Radio was not intended for the Oklahoma City Market. 94.7 The Brew is one of my favorite stations. If CC wishes to expand KTOK AM 1000, they need to apply for an upgrade or better yet improve online presents. They could make an agreement to simulcast KTOK on KFOR-DT 4.2. They should however give up on the HD radio feed. I have never seen an HD radio and none of the stores around here sell them. In reality I-Heart Radio/ Reciva is the way to go.
