Last week we reported on a potential flip at 104.3 WSMJ in Baltimore. While we hear that changes may still be coming to WSMJ, it looks as though our source was trying to throw us off the scent of where these ALL or SOME of these domains are intended.
If you’ll notice above, 104.3 KBIG Los Angeles modified its logo this week to emphasize the frequency as opposed to the call letters. We’re hearing that this is the first phase of a formatic evolution towards a new positioner or complete flip.
Following the previously registered my1043.com, fresh1043.com, and 1043fresh.com, Clear Channel has continued registering a number of new domains this past week.
The rumor mill has hinted at the possibility of a young-skewing Rock format or Spanish Hits. Based on these domains we’re going to guess that a Rocker using the simple PPM friendly “FM 104.3” logo will appear.
In addition, Clear Channel has registered a number of domains that point to some possible positioning statements for the new format:
We personally love the first one. The uses for that one could be endless!
We’re also monitoring the possible staging server at http://kbig-ip.clearchannel.com/ for any action.
