Update 4/3: Oasis has confirmed that 106.3 will go in “Rewind” later today.
WHPP will drop its Urban “Clickhop.com” brand and flip to 90s Hits “Rewind 106.3“. Cluster GM Phil Becker will host the midday shift with Chris Cruise, who had been in afternoons at sister CHR “Hot 107.9” until early March taking the same slot on “Rewind“. Cruise also takes on the role of Content Director for the new format.
Indiana Radio Watch adds that core artists for the new station will include Christina Aguilera, Boyz II Men, Janet Jackson, N*SYNC, Britney Spears and TLC.
The Clickhop.com brand will remain in place as a webcaster under the supervision of Wes Teska.
Original Report 3/13: A change appears to be fairly imminent at Oasis Media Group Urban “Clickhop.com” 106.3 WHPP Columbia City/Fort Wayne, IN.
Station owner Russ Oasis has made domain registrations for Rewind1063.com and 1063TheVibe.com. The latter would be a return to a name the station used from 2007 until 2008. Twitter accounts for both names have been created in the past week with @Rewind1063’s having some background graphics as opposed to default layout of @1063TheVibe.
The cluster has made a few staffing moves today. Clickhop afternoon host Ice moves over to sister CHR “Hot 107.9” WJFX for the same daypart. Chris Cruise, who had been in afternoons at WJHT comes off-air but remains as Production Director for WHPP, WJHT, and Country “US 93.3” WBTU.
Clickhop.com was one of the first stations to brand itself on-air not with its frequency or call letters, but rather by its domain name. The Clickhop name comes from the station’s utilization of Listener Driven Radio to allow listeners to vote online to select what songs are played.
Why am I not surprised that this station is changing format AGAIN? This frequency has been cursed for the past decade. Seems like every other month they switch format. Amazing to think this was once the legendary B106.
I can’t believe its really happening. Yes, its just another Urban station, but this is one of the first stations that utilized a website for its playlist. I mean, every song I voted up for, it got played almost immediately. So sad to go off air and just be online…
