Update 4/19: WWZY/WBHX will rebrand as simply “107.1 FM“. The new positioning is “A Music Radio Station“.
The “Pork Roll & Eggs” morning show hosted by Nina Siciliano and Tom Devoy will move on Monday from sister CHR “B98.5” WBBO to WWZY/WBHX. They will be replaced at WBBO by current Middayer/Music Director Kelso and night host Sara Cucci.
While the format at “107.1 FM” remains AC, the station has streamlined its music library and is focusing on more currents/recurrents than it had as “The Breeze“.
Original Report 4/17: A change is in the air at Press Communications AC “The Breeze” 107.1 WWZY Long Branch and 99.7 WBHX Tuckerton, NJ.
The moves began on April 5 with staff cuts that saw the departure of Director of Programming Mike Fitzgerald, Morning Host Randy Davis (who also voicetracked nights on sister Country “Thunder 106“), News Director Al Brooks, and night host Shelli Cole. The station has also begun deemphasizing its “Breeze” moniker in favor of just its frequencies.
Press is taking the next step in the removal of the name. Four domain names have been registered for the station indicating a potential new non-brand brand is on the way. They are as follows: 1071Radio.com, 1071FMRadio.com, Radio1071.com, and Radio1071FM.com.
In addition to “The Breeze“, Press Communications operates CHR “B98.5” WBBO, Country “Thunder 106” 106.3 WKMK/106.5 WTHJ, and Oldies “1410 AM” WHTG in the lengthy Monmouth/Ocean market.
