Update 1/20: After three and a half months of various stunts, 103.9 WNDR-FM Mexico/Oswego and 95.3 W237AY Dewitt/Syracuse debuted its new identity as Classic Hits “The Dinosaur“.
CNYRadio.com reports Nick Caplan will serve as Program Director and Morning Host for the station joined by newscaster Melissa Midgley. Bob Brown, most recently in middays at crosstown Classic Hits 92.1 WSEN, will host afternoons. Middays and nights remain to be filled permanently, but will be held by Tony Fallico and Peter Naughton respectively on an interim basis.
The stunting began in early October when Christian AC “Love Radio” WVOA moved from 95.3/103.9 to 87.7 and the duo began running Christmas Music as “Holly-FM“. That gave way to All-Beatles on December 26 and then a few hours of nature sounds mixed with the roar of dinosaurs and birds flying away.
Update 12/26: 103.9 WNDR-FM/95.3 W237AY put away its Holly and shifted its stunt to All-Beatles branded as “WBTL” according to CNYRadio.com. Concurrently, 1340 WMBO Auburn dropped its simulcast of “Radio Disney 1490” WOLF Syracuse to join in the Beatles programming.
Update 12/23: An additional domain for WNDR-FM was registered over the weekend. RealCountry103.com was registered by station manager Sam Furco on December 21.
Original Report 12/19: 103.9 WNDR-FM Mexico/Oswego and 95.3 W237AY DeWitt/Syracuse, NY have been operating as All-Christmas “Holly-FM” since October 6. Their next identity appears to be coming as “Dinosaur Radio“.
DinosaurRadio.com was registered by WNDR station manager Sam Furco on December 4. While the name doesn’t indicate a potential format, Scott Fybush at our content partner Northeast Radio Watch ponders whether there’s a connection to the regional Ribs & Live Rock restaurant chain Dinosaur BBQ that is based in Syracuse.
