A pair of stations in the Oklahoma City market may soon find themselves with new formats.
Tyler Media CHR “Now 96.5” K243BJ Oklahoma City/107.7 KRXO-HD3 is now simulcasting on 92.9 K225BN Oklahoma City and starting to direct listeners to the new frequency. Now929.com and 929Now.com were registered last week for the station. While none of the station’s web presences indicate the new frequency yet, on-air sweepers state that the station is “Now at 92.9”. No word yet on what will eventually come to 96.5.
Meanwhile, Last Bastion Station Trust manager Jeff Couch registered 1053TheMartini.com on October 29. That would signal a return to the previous Adult Standards format for what is now Sports “105.3 The Pro” KINB Kingfisher. KINB dropped the Martini brand and format in March 2013 for the national CBS Sports Radio feed and local high school play-by-play.
I wish OKC would bring back a real Active Rock station like 95X or 94.7 The Buzz. Also I miss 104.9 The Bull and 94.7 Soft Rock KQSR. We don’t need the Martini (Yawn), The Spy (Boring) or another Sports Station.
Jeff Couch is a super awesome PD. I used to work for him when I was a BOB FM DJ. I hope Cumulus allows him to resurrect 105-3 The Martini. Jeff actually got pretty creative with the format, especially around Christmas time when I mixed in some Jazz Christmas tunes.
