Cumulus New Orleans Promotes Talus Knight & Shawn Williams

Cumulus Media has promoted Talus Knight PD of Urban “Power 102.9” KKND Belle Chasse and Urban AC “Old School 106.7” KMEZ Port Sulpher/New Orleans LA to Operations Manager for the company’s New Orleans cluster. Along with Knight’s promotion Shawn Williams has been upped to Assistant Program Director of Country “Nash FM 92.3” WRKN LaPlace and Alternative “106.1 The Underground” WZRH Picayune MS. The promotions fill the openings created by Ray Mariner’s exit as PD of WRKN/WZRH earlier this year. Williams will continue as midday host on WZRH and afternoon host on WRKN. John Boyle Joins WRKN/WZRH New Orleans As PD

Cumulus has named John Boyle as the new Program Director of Country “92.3 Nash-FM” WRKN and Alternative “106.1 The Underground” WZRH New Orleans. Boyle comes to New Orleans from sister “95 Rock” 95.9 WSJZ Melbourne FL, where he served as the station’s first PD following its flip from Sports. He takes the position previously held by Ray Mariner, whose status within the company is currently unknown. Cumulus Media announces that it has appointed John Boyle to Operations Manager/Program Director for NASH FM 92.3/WRKN-FM and 106.1 the Underground/WZRH-FM in New Orleans. Cumulus Launches 106.1 The Underground New Orleans

Cumulus flipped WMTI to Alternative “106.1 The Underground” at 3pm. The new format will feature 106 minute blocks of music under the oversight of Ray Mariner, the PD of sister Country “92.3 Nash-FM” WRKN. Cumulus has applied for new WZRH call letters for the station. WZRH was the identity used by “Zephyr 106.1” in its Alternative format from 1992 to 1997. Launching with a package quite similar to the debut of sister 101.1 WKQX Chicago, the first song on 106.1 The Underground was local favorite Better Than Ezra’s “Good”. The Ticket Debuts In New Orleans

Cumulus has shifted “True Oldies 106.1” WMTI New Orleans to Sports “106.1 The Ticket“. The station is primarily using Fox Sports Radio including Dan Patrick and Jim Rome. New Orleans Hornets analyst Gerry Vaillancourt will host afternoons from 4 to 7pm on the station. WMTI replaces sister Urban AC “Old School 106.7” KMEZ has flagship of the teams broadcasts.

Citadel New Orleans Shuffle

A pair of changes taking place in New Orleans: 106.1 WMTI has dropped its “Martini” name and Modern Standards in favor of Scott Shannon’s True Oldies format. 106.7 KKND could be next in line. The station flipped from a Rock based Country format to New Country earlier this year. Next could be a rebranding as Citadel has registered 1067thewolfnola.com and a few similar domains. Citadel launched “96.9 The Wolf” in Charleston in October as the moniker continues to explode nationwide.
