Impact Radio Group Sports “ESPN 730” KINF Boise is the latest AM recipient of an FM translator. EMF Broadcasting owned 96.5 K260AI Boise has signed-on rebroadcasting KINF. The translator had previously been operating on 99.9 with a rebroadcast of EMF’s “Air 1” 98.7 KARO Nyssa, OR/Boise. The translator is operating with 99 watts at 804.7 meters. It was displaced off of 99.9 by the coming move of KXML Jackson, WY to Fairfield, ID where it will rimshot the Boise market. The Idaho Statesman reports that KINF has also added a local afternoon show. “The Ballgame Show with Rick and Johnny” hosted by Rick Worthington and John Mallory is airing from 2-4pm daily. Original Report 11/30: With Cumulus dropping ESPN Radio from its Sports stations in many markets in favor of CBS Sports Radio in January, the network continues to lock up new affiliates. In Boise, the new station will be Impact Radio Group’s 730 KINF. KINF currently simulcasts a News/Talk format with sister “Newsradio 99.1” KINF-FM Mountain Home, which will continue with that format. “ESPN 730 Boise” will debut on January 1 with coverage of the Rose and Orange Bowls. Update 2:45pm That was quick. “Newsradio 99.1 and AM730” debuted at 12pm Mountain time as KQLZ began simulcasting 730 KINF. Original Report 1:35pm: After just a few weeks on the air, Impact Radio Group is adding an FM simulcast for its new “NewsRadio 730” KINF Boise. Modern Rock “V99.1” KQLZ dropped its format shortly after 10:30 this morning and is now stunting with the same loop of Michael Jackson’s Thriller that led into the debut of 730 KINF on July 21. The station has left a farewell message on its Facebook page. Impact Radio registered IdahoNewsRadio.com on August 3 and applied for all call letter change to KINF-FM for 99.1 earlier today. Update 7/21: 730 KINF debuted its News/Talk format at 4pm today. The station will air all-news blocks in morning and afternoon drive featuring a mix of local reports and Talk Radio Network’s “America’s Radio News Network”. Rick Worthington has been named Program Director. Worthington previously served as news director at 780 KKOH Reno. Jay Howell is News Director. He formerly worked at WFLA Tampa, WSM Nashville, and KBOI Boise. The news blocks will be surrounded by the aforementioned Laura Ingraham, Rusty Humphries, and Phil Hendrie talk shows.
