Shila Nathan Joins WNSH New York For Middays

Cumulus Country “Nash-FM 94.7” WNSH Newark NJ/New York has appointed Shila Nathan as their new midday host. Nathan joins WNSH from Chicago where she was most recently hosting afternoons at CBS Radio’s “US 99.5” WUSN and takes hole created by Kelly Ford’s move to the syndicated America’s Morning Show at the beginning of the year. Before Chicago, Nathan spent the bulk of her career in her native Pennsylvania including morning cohost positions at 94.1 WYSP and 96.5 WRDW-FM Philadelphia. Cumulus Makes New York Programming Appointements

Cumulus Media is shuffling its programming team at its New York music stations. John Foxx has been named Program Director of Country “94.7 Nash-FM” WNSH filling the opening created by the move of Brian Thomas to WLS-FM Chicago last July. Foxx had been serving as Assistant PD/Afternoon Host of Hot AC 95.5 WPLJ after previously holding the PD reigns of both WNSH and WPLJ. Foxx will continue to host afternoons on WPLJ. Mike Allan has been promoted from Music Coordinator of WPLJ to Assistant PD of both WNSH and WPLJ. Melony Torres, who had been hosting middays at 107.3 WRQX Washington prior to its relaunch as “Mix 107.3” moves to New York as Music Director and late night host at WPLJ. Kelly Ford is moving from middays at Cumulus Country “94.7 Nash-FM” WNSH Newark NJ/New York to join the syndicated America’s Morning Show based at Cumulus’ Nash Campus in Nashville. Ford will join Blair Garner, Chuck Wicks and Robin Meade in the next incarnation of the show apparently replacing performing artist Terri Clark, who is not mentioned in the release. Nash Becomes Part Of Country Weekly

Update 2/17: Cumulus’ Nash brand reaches print beginning with the now on sale February 24 issue of Country Weekly. NASH will be a 16 page section within the magazine featuring content from the brand’s pre-existing national programming and artist features. The first issue features an interview conducted by America’s Morning Show host Blair Garner with Jason Aldean amongst its content. The New York Post reports that this will be the first part of a gradual rebranding of the magazine completely under the NASH brand as Cumulus will acquire 50 percent share of the magazine as part of the expansion of the Nash initiative into other forms of media. Cumulus To Launch NASH Nights Live

“Go Country 105” KKGO-FM Los Angeles morning host Sean Parr is departing the station to host a new nationally syndicated night show. “NASH Nights Live” will debut on Monday, January 6 on Cumulus’ Country stations including “94.7 Nash-FM” WNSH New York. The Nashville based program will air from 7pm-12am daily and will also be made available to other stations via Cumulus Media Networks. Parr has been with KKGO since its flip to Country in 2007 and previously worked at Country predecessor 93.9 KZLA. Blair Garner To Leave After Midnite

Blair Garner will step down as host of Premiere Radio Networks “After Midnight” on July 31. Garner, who debuted as host of Cumulus’ “America’s Morning Show” at “94.7 Nash-FM” WNSH New York last month, had been pulling double duty on both shows. His departure should open the door for Cumulus to begin rolling out his morning show nationally. Premiere will temporarily fill Garner’s spot with Country artists. Carrie Underwood will host on August 1 and 2 before other hosts take week long guest spots. Cumulus Country “94.7 Nash-FM” WNSH New York has brought on its first two on-air personalities. Kelly Ford, who departed Lincoln Financial Media’s 98.5 KYGO Denver last August after 20 years at that station will take the midday shift. Coming in from Detroit for afternoon drive is Jesse Addy. He had been APD/Afternoon host at Cumulus’ Hot AC 96.3 WDVD. Both will debut on Monday, February 25.

Do Social Media Likes Lead To Ratings: Part 1

One week after the launch of Country “94.7 Nash-FM” New York the first thing we noticed were the amount of people that quickly began following the station on social media. Seven days into operation WNSH already has 8894 likes on Facebook and 2356 Twitter followers*. To put it into comparison, top rated AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW has just 18,442 likes. The most liked New York radio station on Facebook belongs to “Hot 97” WQHT with 275,516. While we are unable to parse any demographic info from the amount of likes, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that a younger skewing station has 10 times as many followers as an office friendly background station.
