The new format will flank sister Country “B107.5” WBBI against Townsquare Media’s “98.1 The Hawk” WHWK. The Classic Hits format is still served in the Binghamton market by Equinox Broadcasting’s “Cool 106.7” WCDW Port Dickinson.
Equinox Broadcasting has launched Oldies “Solid Gold 104.5” W283AG Binghamton, NY. Northeast Radio Watch reports that the 50s/60s based format will flank sister Classic Hits “Cool 106.7” WCDW Port Dickinson as that focuses on 70s and 80s hits. W283AG was the home of Alternative “The Drive” until last August when the format moved to what is now 100.5 WDRE Susquehanna, PA. 104.5 continued to simulcast WDRE until recently to cover the western portions of the market. That role is now being served by 95.1 W236AP Binghamton. The move has been in the works for quite some time as Northeast Radio Watch’s Scott Fybush noted seeing “Gold 104.5” banners at Binghamton Senators hockey games this winter.

Equinox Broadcasting has promoted Alternative “104.5 The Drive” W283AG Binghamton, NY to a full powered signal. The station has begun simulcasting on the former 100.5 WCDW Susquehanna, PA, which is now WDRE. Following a brief simulcast period on both frequencies, the format will reside on 100.5 with a new format launching on the 104.5 translator. The Drive will also be heard on 95.1 W236AP Binghamton. 100.5’s Classic Hits format (and now call letters) relocated to the former 106.7 WRRQ Port Dickinson, NY in June.

Equinox Broadcasting has flipped Hot AC “Q106.7” WRRQ Port Dickinson, NY to a simulcast of 100.5 WCDW Susquehanna, PA. The move gives the format a full powered signal covering Binghamton proper as the station had been heard on a rimshot from the east of the city and a string of translators to boost its signal in Binghamton and neighboring Endwell. Those translators, 99 watt 95.1 W236AP Binghamton, 14 watt 101.1 W266BK Endwell, and 57 watt W275BC Chenango Bridge continue to rebroadcast “Cool 100” at the current time. With the move of its Classic Hits programming to the 96.9 translator last week, Clear Channel’s 107.5 WBBI Endwell/Binghamton, NY has returned to its original identity. At midnight WBBI shifted to Country as “New Country B107.5“. The station previously used the “B107.5” identity with a Country format from the time it signed-on in 1998 until 2003. The new format returns the station to direct competition with Townsquare Media’s “98.1 The Hawk” WHWK. WBBI is promoting at least 10 commercial free hours daily.
Update 4/15: At midnight, WBBI dropped the Classic Hits format and shifted to Country “B107.5” Update 4/11: The 96.9 translator has signed-on branded as “Oldies 96.9“. The translator is rebroadcasting the former “Real Oldies 680” WINR. “Big 107.5” WBBI is currently simulcasting the duo as well to begin the process of redirecting the audience to the new signal. While the new station website is not yet live, the “Oldies 96.9” Facebook page is promoting that they’re almost there with a graphic promoting Friday, April 12. Clear Channel CHR “Star 105.7” WMRV Binghamton, NY has rebranded as “Now 105.7” WBNW-FM. No other changes to the current product, which features Elvis Duran in mornings, Ryan Seacrest in middays, and PD Matt Gapske in afternoons. The change ends nearly 40 years of heritage for the WMRV calls, which come from former station owner Merv Griffin.
The Broome County Urban League has begun testing 93.3 WJOB-FM Susquehanna PA/Binghamton NY with a mix of Hip Hop, R&B Oldies, and Spanish pop. The station’s website is focusing mainly on current Hip-Hop artists perhaps indicating the direction the station will take once it fully launches. WJOB-FM is a new non-commercial allocation in the Binghamton market operating with 1.9kW at 170 meters from about 15 miles southeast of Binghamton.
Update 5/26: Coast To Coast has been dropped by Cumulus’ 560 KSFO San Francisco. Red Eye Radio slides from sister 810 KGO, which picks up Bloomberg Business News for overnights. Coast To Coast will likely reappear on Clear Channel’s 910 KKSF. Update 4/10: Add KLIF Dallas to the stations dropping Coast To Coast. With the station’s recent shift to News based programming, the station has dropped Coast To Coast and Glenn Beck. Update 2/28: Coast To Coast has been picked up by 980/98.1 KMBZ in Kansas City following its drop by KCMO.
