John Dowdy’s Coast Radio Group has launched AC “Sunny 97.7” KDLC Dulac/Houma, LA. Launching with 10,000 songs commercial-free, the station is being operated by Southeastern Broadcasting, which is owned by Dowdy and his brother Charles Dowdy. The company also operates Classic Country “Gumbo 94.9” WGUO Reserve in the Houma market. Dowdy acquired the CP for KDLC from Alex Media in August 2013 for $440,000.
With the FCC back in business we are able to resume our irregular roundup of applications from around the industry. CBS has applied to change the city of license of its “El Zol 107.9” WLZL Annapolis, MD to College Park. No facility change is connected to the application, but there could be additional ramifications. Despite the station operating in the CBS Washington cluster, Annapolis is located in the Baltimore market and WLZL currently counts towards CBS’ ownership limit in Baltimore. When CBS acquired the 107.9 facility in 2011 it had to relicense its 99.1 from Annapolis to Bowie in the Washington market to fit 107.9 in its market cap. Could this move be a predecessor to CBS adding an additional FM in Baltimore? FM Idaho has requested a facility swap of its 99.1 KINF-F...Read More

Update 3/30: Giving more credence to the pending move of Country “C107.5” KCIL-FM to 96.7, Sunburst has added C967.com to its portfolio. Original Report 3/2: Sunburst Media has begun shuffling the formats at its Houma, LA cluster as one of its stations prepares for its move into the New Orleans market. Modern Rock “K-Rock 106.3” KXOR Thibodaux has shifted to Classic Rock “Rock Hits Radio LA106.3“. The format has much overlap with sister Variety Hits “96.7 Dan-FM” KMYO. That should be short-lived as 96.7 is likely to assume the Country format of “C107.5” KCIL when that frequency is shifted to Jean Lafitte, LA as a New Orleans targeted station. 967KCIL.com was registered in September. 107.5’s construction permit had expired in...Read More
