Tias Schuster Named iHeart Norfolk SVP/Programming

Tias Schuster is returning to Norfolk VA as Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia. Schuster, who previously programmed Entercom Rhythmic CHR “Z104” 104.5 WNVZ from from 2007-2012, returns to the market from Rochester NY where he programmed Hot AC “100.5 The Drive” WDVI and CHR “Kiss 106.7” WKGS for iHeart. Schuster has also programmed Entercom CHR’s “B93.7” WFBC-FM Greenville SC and 98.5 WKRZ Wilkes-Barre PA during his career. Hot 100.5 Norfolk Moves To Hot AC

A playlist shift has taken place at Max Media CHR “Hot 100.5” WVHT Norfolk VA as the station has dropped most Rhythmic titles and moved in a decidedly Hot AC direction. The move comes with a rebranding to just “Hot 100” and a new “Virginia’s Hit Music Channel” positioner. The change comes just after Max Media’s decision to stop subscribing to Nielsen Audio’s ratings starting with the just released July PPM monthly. Langley Speedway’s Speedway Media Group is acquiring 1490 WXTG Hampton/Norfolk, VA from Davis Media for an undisclosed price. WXTG, which most recently had been simulcasting soon-to-be former sister AAA “102.1 The Tide” WXTG-FM Virginia Beach, flipped to a Classic Country/Racing mix on August 1 as Speedway Media Group began operating it via LMA. The new “1490 The Outlaw” is resurrecting a previous identity and format used by the station. Chuck Hall was GM of then 1490 WLRT prior to its sale to Red Zebra Broadcasting in July 2007 and is now the GM of Langley Speedway and the revived “Outlaw“. Following the first year, WPCE will pay a lease price starting at $600 a month with a 5% annual increase for 15 years. WDRC-FM will adjust from non-directional to a directional array, while WBZO will shift to non-directional.
