is no more, I’m guessing. Stunting with Christmas music. Next format? (Someone feel free to post to other site: I can’t get my PW reset e-mail).

Seeing as they aren’t stunting with Macarena (the Cromwell classic), and the 93.3 Classic Hits web presence is still around and acknowledges the Christmas music, seems like it’s just a seasonal move.

Elsewhere on the dial: Mix 92.9 turned on the jolly yesterday, and The Fish appears to have taken its annual plunge as well.

Cromwell just launched another translator in Greenbrier for the AM.  It’s a lot of work for two signals.  I wish they would put more effort into the AM since it covers more of the metro.

Agree with Justin.  If this were a format change, there would be a name change to go along with it, as well.  They are OFF my presets until the holiday season is over.  Classic hits stations just DON’T do this!

Classic hits stations just DON’T do this!

Except WOGL Philadelphia, KLUV Dallas, KLOU St. Louis, KQQL Minneapolis, WODC Columbus, and that’s just in the larger markets.

It has never happened here, unless someone was stunting a format change, which doesn’t appear to be the case here.

I know Bud (Walters) at Cromwell/Nashville flipped hoping to capture some of the hype of Hippie and some of those Hippie advertisers. Problem is the signal is just not solid (especially when the leaves are on the trees) and the sales force is not capturing the format or doing much more than making it a throw away from 102.9/102.5.  Bud also is known for flipping formats pretty often. As it stands now, there is not really another format that they can blow out of the water. That does not mean that there will not be something new on the station in January. If Christmas stays past Christmas, you will know something is happening. My guess is they decided to see if Christmas music brings any increase in ratings, sales or brand recognition and they didn’t have time to create any new graphics, etc.

You’re right, Tibbs.  (Can’t put anything over on you, now can we?) 93.3 only claimed to reach “from the Batman building to Bellevue” by their own admission, so that is only the western half of the city.  101.9 is also carrying that signal as another translator for the (I believe) Rivergate area.  Apparently they decided to do that rather than (also) flip it to “The Ville” as they did with their translator at 102.1.  I have been doing more listening to “The Ville” in the absence of classic hits on 93.3.

Lance, I told you that we should be skeptical about this one.  I have never known of a classic hits station here that does this.  Can’t speak for classic hits stations in other cities, but I believe that this marks a first for such a station in the Nashville area.

It appears that 93.3 has resumed playing classic hits.
