Add to that the Twitter account for WOIO’s traffic updates. It’s now “19 News Traffic” and @19NewsTraffic…

Recorded in Ultra Stereo, the ultimately superior cousin to Normal Stereo!

The name “Cleveland 19 News” (or “Cleveland’s 19 News”) is sort of like a throwback to their original 1995 names “19 News” and “Cleveland Television News.” So I guess it’s sort of like “Back to the Future.”

Somara Theodore has started this week as a new, additional meteorologist at Channel 5. She’ll be on GMC weekdays solo for now, but will tag team with Tera Blake later this year.

The Twitter account for WOIO’s sports department (@WOIOSports) just changed their handle to “19 Sports” with corresponding #19Tribe, #19Cavs, #19Browns and #19Sports hashtags.

For all we know, the “19 News” rebranding may happen sooner than we think…

Just more fumigating to remove the tabloid stank off of Reserve Square.

I have a feeling WEWS is adding at least another addition for GMC. I bet there will be a three-person team coming. Four if you count the addition of a live center anchor.

Jenn Harcher made her first appearance on FOX 8 this morning, and it is confirmed she will do the forecast on Saturday and Sunday evenings. That means A.J. Colby will do the weather on Wednesday through Sunday mornings.

Big Chuck and Lil John are moving to Sunday nights at 11:30pm on FOX 8 starting July 5th. That should get them an even bigger audience. Plus, it’s likely due to baseball as well.

Pairing BC & LJ up with the Rizzo Show is a killer local block.

Fox has a lot of stuff on it’s Saturday plate between baseball, golf (U.S. Open, U.S. Senior Open, U.S. Women’s Open), and college football (about 8 weeks away).

Plus WJW has to shoehorn in E/I shows (mandatory three hours per week for every single terrestrial TV station; occasionally those shows run on Sunday afternoons to fulfill the requirement) portions of Fox’s “Weekend Marketplace” two-hour infomercial block (basically, the network simply feeds four informercials to any stations that want them) and the long-running Fred Martin telethon at 11:30.

In spite of all that, BC&LJ have done very well – IIRC, the ratings for WJW at 11am Saturday quadrupled after the show debuted.

Weekend Marketplace was discontinued last fall.

The “Xlporation Station” block replaced it, and airs on all the Fox stations.

They basically leased the 2-hour block to an outside producer – much like ABC, CBS, and CW have done with their Saturday morning lineups.

Litton seems to have taken over a lot of the Saturday morning programming on networks. A far cry from when all of the big and startup networks aired cartoons and kid shows in those spots.

Heck, WBNX became a major player in the Cleveland after they became the new home of the Fox Children’s Network (a.k.a. Fox Kids).

Now, everything moved over to cable, satellite, and streaming, despite E/I requirements on the local channels. 55 should have more to offer though other than two-plus hours of Jack Hanna reruns. Nothing wrong with the guy, but there’s so much of “Animal Adventures” one can take.

Speaking of 55, any updates on them going full blown HD?

Basically, all the networks just lease their Saturday morning blocks to the highest bidder, and say “have at it”.

If it weren’t for the E/I rule, they’d do away with kids fare all together and just do extended weekend versions of “Today”, “GMA”, and “CBS This Morning” – which would be much more profitable.

Heck, channel 3 found a way to circumvent things when they expanded their weekend morning newscasts, by putting NBC Kids programming weekdays at 12:30p to fulfill their E/I duties.

Danielle Serino contract is not being renewed. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2015/7/1/more-changes-at-cleveland-station

That now means the station’s 4:30pm and 5:30pm anchor team (Serino and George Smith) are now gone or are leaving. It’ll be interesting to see what more changes are being made between now and when “Cleveland 19 News” debuts.
