WKYC web site says a familiar face will be joining the morning team. Hmm. Any ideas?
Word on the street is that it’s longtime weekend sports guy Dave Chudowsky.
“Chud” has been doing a little bit of news lately, filling in on the 7p newscast in relief of Jim Donovan.
If Chudowsky is indeed the man, that would mean that sports reporter/#3 anchor Pat Cheisa will become the full time weekend sports guy, and Indians TV pre/postgame host and CSU basketball radio PBP voice Al Pawlowski will resume his longtime side gig of being channel 3’s backup/#3 sports anchor.
Me thinks that the little experiment WKYC had been doing on the morning show has turned out to be a dud, and they’re going back to a more traditional format.
Al Pawlowski will take over Chudowsky’s weekend sports duties at 3.
WKYC says Chud will co-anchor the morning show for at least two months with the possibility of getting the job on a permanent basis. WHAT?? They are seriously lost over there!Tell me about it. Makes WEWS and WOIO both look more like WJW every day.Oh, and that experiment that was tried out on the AM newscast on 3 was when Maureen was on maternity leave. If Dave doesn’t work out on the newscast, what would happen to him, who would even sit in his chair?
Correct me if I’m mistaken, but one year ago at this time WKYC had John Anderson, Lynna Lai, Hollie Strano, and Danielle Wiggins doing the early morning gig and were pulling the 2nd best ratings in this market for that time slot. They blew it up and decided to replace Anderson and Lai. Not that at those early morning hours they could find it cost-effective to pay veteran Cleveburg broadcasters. But blowing it up and replacing them with the likes of what they did has proved EXTREMELY foolish in my view. I am up and sample all 4 channels before the 7am national broadcasts come on and channel 3 has become by far the worst in my eyes. And their sprint to the basement was meteoric.
. (No Names Please) was a reporter on the morning shift and was tasked with going out and demonstrating the efficacy of salt melting products one cold winter morning. The clownish performance he gave – dumping a 6 inch pile of something onto a pile of ice cubes because the person OBVIOUSLY thought that performing such a demonstration was beneath him – was worthy of a 3rd grader and his friends with a VHS camera in the 1980’s.
That reporter (no names please) was tabbed with another woman to take the leading roles of Anderson and Lai on the early morning show. Which lasted a very brief time during which FTVlive posted several disparaging videos ridiculing Tegna and WKYC for the content they decided to voluntarily broadcast.
I honestly believe that Chudowsky made a mistake by accepting a 2-month try-out for that job. I can’t see how that it can possibly be a positive career move to work for such a poorly conceived and executed “news” program.
Had they brought in Bozo the Clown, or Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Greenjeans, I think they might’ve been able to upgrade the quality and delivery of their early morning newscasts.
I wish Chudowski the best. But I would’ve taken an UBER driver job before I agreed to work for whoever is running the show at WKYC up until 7am weekday mornings.
Had they brought in Bozo the Clown, or Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Greenjeans, I think they might’ve been able to upgrade the quality and delivery of their early morning newscasts.Only if they had Clarabell the Clown doing weather [nice day: 1 horn honk; rainy day: 2 horn honks. Extremely shitty weather: 5 horn honks and the finger.] or if they dropped some ping pong balls sometime during the Captain Kangaroo/Mr. Greenjeans newscast.
