WJW Fox 8 is off Spectrum (as is WGN America) after Tribune and Charter fail to come to an agreement.

Seen this movie before…they always take it right up to the edge and occasionally even pull the channel for a day or 2 before all is resolved. They’ll be back no later than the weekend.

And if not, maybe FOX 8 can go buy a boxcar full of TV antennas and give them out to their viewers and say “Here, stick these up and you can watch US for FREE!”

FOX 8 gives an update on AJ Colby’s whereabouts.  He should be back at the station soon.

WOIO Cleveland 19 and WUAB CW 43 has adjusted their weeknight anchor lineup following the departures of both Mark Nolan and Romona Robinson, not to mention being under new ownership (Gray).  Here’s who on which slot:

    19 – 4:30pm – Nichole Vrsansky (solo) [online/streaming only]

    19 – 5pm – Chris Tanaka and Tiffani Tucker

    19 – 5:30pm – Nichole Vrsansky (solo)

    19 – 6pm – Chris Tanaka and Tiffani Tucker

    43 – 7:30pm – Chris Tanaka and Tiffani Tucker

    43 – 10pm – Chris Tanaka and Tiffani Tucker

    43 – 10:30pm – Erin Logan (solo)

    19 – 11pm – Chris Tanaka and Tiffani Tucker

Jason Nicholas and Samantha Roberts will both continue to tag team on weeknight weather duty and Tony Zarrella continues as the main weeknight sports director.

The rest of the news lineups remain the same.

There should be no doubt that this is Tucker & Tanaka’s ship now, working essentially 6 30 minute newscasts between 4 and 11p (with Vrsansky – who is also the noon anchor – and Logan respectively relieving them at the bottom of the hour during 60 minute newscasts).

They had long been the “workhorse” anchor team at Reserve Square while Nolan and Robinson were the “star” anchor team, now T & T are truly both.

Dang, that’s a lot of Tucker and Tanaka.   I like Tanaka.  I’m not a big fan of Tucker.  She doesn’t speak too clearly and is hard to understand sometimes.

And those “strange big lips”…..19News is really trying to lower their budget!!!!

Took a little longer than I thought, but WJW Fox 8 (along with WGN America and Antenna TV 8.2) all returned to Spectrum this morning, obviously having reached a deal with Tribune.

More cuts coming to Gray stations. Looks like 19 may be axing more people soon.

No shock…same with radio stations: with fewer and fewer advertising dollars, that means smaller staff sizes, lower salaried positions that do exist, and less experienced employees.

What do you get? Poorer and poorer quality programming, more automation.

WOIO has added a reporter from WWSB-TV in Sarasota. His name is Alan Cohn, and he started last month.

He actually ran for Congress in 2014 (he lost).

He has a Peabody and an Emmy in his trophy case.

He’s essentially replacing Carl Monday as the chief investigator.

WOIO also added Jorge Ramos Pantoja to its reporting staff, and like Cohn, he started in January.  He previously worked at Spectrum News 1 and News 12, both in New York.

Pantoja reports for the general newscasts on 19, and is also the anchor of the station’s digital/online spanish language newscast called “Cleveland 19 Al Dia,” which they have active newscasts on its webpage in addition to social media pages.
