With all the lower power FMs in Cleveland –several of them simply running WGAR simulcasts — you would think the LaMega people could negotiate a lease on one of these. 92.7 (from w.11th Street) would be perfect for LaMega and their target audience.

Why TSJ Media never bothered to lease a subchannel of any iHeart or UrbanOne station so they could feed a translator like a 92.7 or a 106.1 is beyond me. They had five years to think about this and just … sat on their hands. It’s gross negligence on their part. Totally inexcusable.

Maybe they did check and the price for leasing one out was higher than their wallets could afford.

Oops, my bad, I knew it was 3 watts, don’t know where I got the .3 from, thanks for the correction.
It’s listed on the FCC paperwork as .003 Kw.  That’s probably where you got the .3 from.

I received LaMega with snowy color bars in Westpark.  Without the video portion of the signal TV sets that have scanned analog Ch 6 would not get the audio.

I did just look at the FCC paperwork site before replying, prolly what I did subconsciously.

Just came back from a little ride, had to go to the Giant Eagle plaza on Snow just west of Broadview, and I assume the WLFM-LP is almost directly south maybe a mile or so. They did seem to come back full power a few days ago, as were loud & full quieting on my car radio parked in my driveway and Superradio that day. I remembered today to check them out again, Superadio (analog) always somewhat of a hiss no matter how I adjusted the antenna. In my Caravan, left my house near W 150 and Puritas, the signal was swiss cheese to and when I got on the ramp to 480 E, on Brookpark Rd/W 139th. Got  stronger on the freeway, got off on Ridge, had to make a stop. Still a little “picket fencing”. Went down Ridge to snow, and even some lighter fades on Snow going toward State, and seldom a full stereo signal. Was often a soft stereo signal with a strong one at times, could hear the difference, and guess 2 miles away at that point. Stayed almost full quieting to Giant Eagle. If you listened good, could still make out light dropouts in the signal. Was about the same back State to 480, and could start the swiss cheese on 480 around Tiedamann, and was cutting in and out pretty good when I got off and went backup W 150th to my place. I’d guess a minimum of 3 watts, but maybe somewhere between 3 and and at most 10 watts.

92.7 is an amazing signal (if this is the same one carrying “Air 1”).  I’ve listened to it with no interference on SR-2 as far east as SR-615 in the center of Mentor.  Not bad for a low power station in the flats.  OTOH it drops out to the south by Wallings Rd.  My kudos to whoever was the engineer who put that signal on the air!
I looked up W224CD on the FCC site.  It shows the COL as Parma with the transmitter in the antenna farm, not W 11th St.  It’s 99 watt signal sure covers a lot of territory – even farther than the map, at least to the NE.

Last few days seems La Mega is playing with their power, sometimes seems as strong or almost as strong as they once were, and other times their power is notably reduced.

Did a rescan on a smart TV and lost analog 6.  Did they shut off the video carrier of color bars?  Without the video carrier TV’s won’t get their signal.

Is the 87.7 portion still on the air?

Oh, speaking of La Mega, they have a new PD, and new investors for TSJ Media, which is now La Mega Media, Inc.

I heard them loud and clear on 87.7  in North Olmsted last night.  Those 3 watts must be pumping iron.

Yes, the color bars are still there but quite snowy. Being only a few miles from the tower, I would say the power is very low at least for the video. On the radio, it comes in quite well.

Well, they sold off all their other properties in Columbus and Oxford/Cincinnati, so this is all they have left.

Why Mega 87.7 is still in the air and with only 3 watts is still powerful as before, I do not understand why, someone can explain.

It’s quite scratchy in Avon and barely receivable.

Nothing else is broadcasting on channel 6 analog, so those 3 watts are really overachieving. If channel 6 was as crowded as any other spot on the FM dial, they’d be smothered out of existence.

It’s hard to believe they are getting so much coverage with 3 watts.  What was their power at previously?
