I-Heart Of the Hudson Valley, Z93 WBWZ New Paltz, Poughkeepsie has dropped the syndicated Eliot in the morning (I prefer Idiot in the morning) show in favor of jockless Shut up and rock morning show. Z93 is promoting it as : “Just todays Classic Rock and no talk”. Gary Cee continues voice tracking mid-days, but he speaks so infrequently he is irrelevant. As far as I know the rest of the day is unchanged. Having a computer be your “host” is defiantly being cheap but in this case perhaps an improvement

Elliot Sega has been on this station since WOR’s cancellation back in 2014 which was not doing very well. But when the station picked up where WOR left off, it was fine, but then it dropped as of this week after nearly 3 year.

And just an update, “Rock 93.3” is now “Z93”. And for those of you have not heard that “Z93” was an AC station back in the late 1990’s after it flipped from an all 1970’s format back in 1994 or 1995, but it is still a classic rock station and they’re still competing with its rival, WPDH.

Eliot lasted all of three weeks on WOR in NYC. Actually WBWZ was known as Z93 when they first signed on as a modern hard rock heavy metal station in the early 90’s
They are still a distant second to WPDH in Classic Rock format.

Just to bump the thread, when I was on my way to work, I heard the station’s Christmas promo that at the very end, they mentioned “Rock 93.3” instead of “Z93”. As you probably know, “Rock 93.3” was the old moniker for a classic rock competitor to WPDH until it was rebranded to “Z93” almost a year ago. It was on during the automated “Shut Up & Rock” morning show.

And one thing I just want to say, I’m NOT a “Z93” listener, as well as not a WPDH listener. I am still a longtime oldies listener, And I don’t like automated morning shows since no one was on in mornings. As for WPDH, Boris & Taylor did an excellent job doing a morning show together. It has a lot of talking along with guests and plays rock a little bit.

Many of the songs can also be heard on WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” except for album cuts since I don’t listen to WGNY-FM these days except Bob O which is still my favorite jock.

And also, remember when KSWD’s “The Sound” pulled the plug about a week and a half ago? That was in Los Angeles when 100.3 gave up classic rock in favor of Christian AC’s “K-Love”, and a lot of classic rock fans who missed “The Sound” might ended up somewhere like WPDH and WBWZ’s “Z93” if you’re in or not from the West Coast.

I have airchecks from the last day of KSWD’s “The Sound” in my collection, but trust me, I’m still not a rock listener to station, but sometimes it will throw in some Doors, Led Zeppelin, or The Who in as oldies.

I enjoyed the last day of KSWD’s “The Sound” from about two weeks ago, and it is still an instant classic and it deserves to hear it one more time.
