And what’s ‘RKO’s excuse for letting that pipsqueak 1430 take Levin?

The same reasons that WKRO let Savage go to WMEX. WRKO isn’t owned by Cumulus or iHeart, and thus isn’t mandated to carry shows from either provider.

With neither Levin or Savage, ‘RKO’s night schedule is bound to suck, then.

Contracts are contracts. Entercom and iHeart could care less about what the Supreme Court does unless it involves their own well-being. Same sex marriage Really, any polemic issue out there does not impact their livelihood, and it really won’t have any tune in value beyond the existing shrinking audience of old, angry white males in the 55-dead demo.

“The 55-dead demo”…..That certainly sums it up!!! I love it!!!!!

The Talk1430.com site which had orig. redirected to iHeart’s page now redirects to mia1430’s announcement of the new format.

Iʼd like to see ‘RKO pick back up Jerry Doyle, who is still out there.

WCRN-AM 830 used to carry Jerry Doyle from 7 – 8 p.m. but the last couple of times I tuned in at that time, they were rerunning an hour of the Howie Carr show leading into Michael Savage.

Could WKOX-1430 diplex it’s night signal on the tower complex in Newton that’s used by WXKS-1200/WRCA-1330 and WUNR-1600??

I believe WXKS-AM’s directional pattern is similar to what WKOX has to do at night, so I don’t think a sixth tower would have to be built there.

It would mean a better night signal over much of the Boston area, even if (as I think would be likely) the night power stays at 1,000 watts. The current nighttime signal covers the North Shore, but is nonexistent west, northwest, southwest, or south of Boston.

Does IHEART really care about their evening signal. If they are only interested in having Limbaugh on in Boston and do not plan to promote the station why spend any money to improve the signal.

1430 can’t move the night signal to Oak Hill. Even if iHeart wanted to spend the huge $$ it would cost to build a quadplex network, you can’t put a nighttime interference-free signal over Everett from the Oak Hill site, and so you can’t remain licensed to Everett. And you can’t change COL from Everett to anything else because nothing else is licensed to Everett. Not gonna happen.

iHeart does not care if anyone listens much less would improve the signal of 1430. They simply want to put the word “Boston” on a Limbaugh affiliates list.

Many here would defend unClearChannel as capitalists running a business. I have another c-word to describe them: carpetbaggers.

One thing not discussed thus far is that in all likelihood, the new WKOX-1430 will become an affiliate of Fox News Radio.

Nearly all of iHeart’s talk stations are FNR affiliates, and as far as I know, Fox News Radio currently doesn’t have a local affiliate.

One minute condensation of the format change. Yes it was not a legal ID but I’m told they did do one
a bit earlier. And yes it was Fox News Radio which like Fox Sports Radio is distributed and I believe produced by iHR.

Given WKOX’s signal and non-competitive line-up, that’s not necessarily a major accomplishment on Fox News Radio’s part.

Recorded in Ultra Stereo, the ultimately superior cousin to Normal Stereo!
