The manager named in the lawsuit is Marv Nyren over a business decision from a decade ago at WKQX-FM 101.1.

Note the article mentions that Mancow is on WLUP 97.9 FM currently and yes Now Nyren is named as the Market Manager of Cumulus Chicago which does include WLUP Radio.

Wouldn’t Cumulus brass have factored in Marv Nyren’s past working relationship with “Mancow” Muller before they appointed him as their Chicago market manager?

It wasn’t just a “business decision…” Nyren fired Muller from Q101 amid a lot of acrimony, and it should be obvious to anyone and everyone that Muller has never forgiven him (although his claims of PTSD might be a bit too much in the hyperbole department). Muller does not want to work for him in any way, thus, the lawsuit… the second one he’s filed against Nyren in decade.

It’s stupefying that Cumulus would drop the ball this badly. It’s not like WLUP is an underperforming dog of a station.

Also threats of retaliation came into play in the allegations Mancow has against Nyren.

Again. It’s not like any of this was a secret. Mancow Muller sued Nyren ten years ago after his firing from Q101, and that dragged on for years. It was all public record.

Cumulus should have known the extensive bad blood between their candidate for market manager and one of their most recognizable on-air personalities in that market.

The fault is 100% on Cumulus for absolutely failing to do any due diligence in this hiring.
