You can put a star beside 100.5 because they have been testing for the past week or so with Spanish Contemporary Christian music…I have also heard them slip in the occasional English CCM song…the station is owned by a Hispanic church in Lebanon, and maybe they might have sermons on there in the near future like WKDA-900…

I drive around Nashville all the time and stay on main frequencies. I would like to see WHPY add some signals to the north so I could pick them up near Springfield. Maybe they do. I never scan the dial every 10 miles to see if I can pick up any new stations. How do listeners ever find these translators?

Well, that didn’t format as well as I’d have liked:)

The two numbers between the city and location are the power & antenna height. For example, WRFN-LP is running 7 watts from an antenna 107m above average terrain.

The criteria for the listing is a LPFM or translator with a tower site within 50km (about 30 miles) of the Wikipedia coordinates for Nashville, 36-10-00N/86-47-00W which plots to 6th & Charlotte next to the Capitol.

Still hoping that this one does not materialize. I see it as being completely unnecessary, seeing as how the parent station already comes in “clear as a bell” here anyway.

In Portland, I can receive WMOT better than WPLN. WMOT is even louder (I suppose they are not using SCAs). I wouldn’t have a clue why they think it’s needed.

Interesting. WMOT is definitely NOT louder than WPLN in West Nashville/Bellevue.

These days, when you see someone planning a translator you have to consider it might be for HD2.

I have seen instances (mainly in west TN) in which it seems like a certain station’s corporate ownership has been buying up all the available area translators just to keep a competitor from having them. These translators do nothing to increase the coverage area of the parent stations.

I’m guessing that you’re talking about Thunderbolt, and they’re definitely guilty of that. They managed to grab WAY-FM’s translator in Dyersburg and sat on it for several years until they moved it earlier this year to South Fulton and made it another translator for WCMT 1410 in Martin, which was totally unnecessary. When WAY-FM decided to back out of West TN Thunderbolt grabbed all their translators and CPs. I would have rather seen them sell to EMF to make translators for Air 1 in Union City but that didn’t happen 🙁

Yes, but I was unaware that Thunderbolt had picked up a SECOND translator for WCMT-AM. I had not seen any mention of that on their website recently, so this may be a new development.
