Earlier this week, the two companies announced a deal whereby Seattle’s KCPQ and KZJO, along with Milwaukee’s WITI, go to Fox–in exchange for Charlotte’s WJZY and WMYT. Not surprisingly, this is largely the result of Fox continuing to add stations in NFC home markets. Ironically, though, WITI was a station that Fox spun off years ago–while the company originally picked up the Charlotte stations for pretty much the same reason.
The thread title is inaccurate. The companies involved are NOT swapping stations!
Fox is acquiring the ex-Tribune facilities in Seattle and Milwaukee from Nexstar. In a separate deal, Nexstar is acquiring the Fox O&Os in Charlotte. Two different transactions, two different situations.
