This station is in the Providence DMA.August 7, 2017 at 10:32 pm #175837
Still no mention of what station they will be channel-sharing with.August 7, 2017 at 11:33 pm #175838
WLWC’s CW main channel could be added to WNAC or WPRI. Possibly also at least one of the WLWC diginets – Movies! or Decades.August 8, 2017 at 10:40 am #175840
Original content in 16×9 trumps old/dated content in 4×3.
For those who didn’t click on the OP’s link, WLWC is a “zombie station” that sold its OTA space in the FCC’s spectrum auction. Nexstar is acquiring the non-transmission assets of WLWC — no FCC approval required.August 8, 2017 at 4:46 pm #175851

This likely will mean that the CW affiliation and syndicated programming now on WLWC-28 will end-up as a subchannel of WPRI-12 or WNAC-64.
I don’t know if any current WLWC staff will be absorbed or not.August 8, 2017 at 7:39 pm #175861
They probably won’t need to keep much of the staff.
WNAC has 2 channels in HD (720 & 720), one in SD. WPRI has 1 HD (1080) and 2 SD, so that may be the place for the CW. It they keep one of the diginets, that could go on WNAC.
It probably won’t take too long before they shut down. And the good part – Michael Dell made yet another $4 million.August 11, 2017 at 6:17 pm #175900
It will be WPRI, as NEXSTAR doesn’t own WNAC. They only LMA it.
Legally this is a channel sharing agreement with Nexstar, not STC, so they can’t use WNAC for it.September 6, 2017 at 11:33 pm #176475
It seems our speculation of the station WLWC will share with is wrong. It will be WPXQ, the ION station, as of October 1st, when WLWC will pull the plug. And it will not be a CW affiliate:
They don’t mention WPXQ there, however the channel sharing info can be found on http://www.rabbitears.info
Since this ION station is accepting sharing, others probably will, too – such as WBPX, Boston.
And WMFP, Boston, will be sharing with WWDP. No info found as to what they will be programming – SonLife, WBTS?September 7, 2017 at 12:08 am #176478
