Is that not the candleabra tower in Parma that 61 and 43 shared? Been some time since I saw it, did they remove the 43 antenna, or is that what they are doing now or are they installing the new antenna as the second half of the candleabra?

No, it’s not the candelabra.  61 is on a tower just east of the old Parmadale site.  I don’t think 43 and 61 ever shared a tower.  19/43 is planning to install a new transmitter on the old 43 tower.

The Candelabra tower had ch 43 as its only TV resident.   OTOH the original Ch 61 WKBF may have been on it, that was in the late 60’s.   I only knew of WKBF’s studio at the time which was in Euclid.  BTW the candelabra is the current home of 106.9, WTAM’s FM repeater.

Good call on this man! I’ve been checking out the WDOK sub-channel at your recommendation, and have heard some good stuff.  I’m normally locked on SiriusXM, but when I do flip over to the FM dial in my car I’ve now got The Coffee Shop on my pre-sets.  Heard a random Better Than Ezra song on there yesterday while driving to work, one I used to play on the radio back in college and had forgotten all about it, really made my day, its cool that radio can still do that!

There is a recent boom of “The Breeze” soft AC format flips in varied markets, both on Entercom and iHeart’s part.

TBH, if WDOK flipped back to Soft AC as “102.1 The Breeze” after the Christmas season, it would be a solid move. (Although WNWV really should just go in the Soft AC direction with the “Wave” moniker and own the format outright.)

Recorded in Ultra Stereo, the ultimately superior cousin to Normal Stereo!

The Wave should be the one to switch to Soft AC.  It would make more sense, and it would help WNWV better compete with Star, Majic, The Lake, Q, KISS, and WGAR.

Oh, I saw on this site that Canton is one of the cities that has a “Breeze” domain registered.  (I doubt it’s WDJQ or WHBC-FM)

If WNWV had a better signal in parts of Greater Cleveland, then maybe that would help but all of the stations you mention have much better reception. My location is near Cleveland/Parma and WNWV has always been a bit weak in that area and all of the towers near the Parma antenna farm just add to their issues. When they still had the HD signal, it would constantly drop out. Around thirty years ago or so, their signal was stronger this way. When you get too far east out by Mentor, they really start to drop out.

If it is what I think it is, it’s one major broadcasting chain that’s doing it to claim first use of the “Breeze” name for trademark purposes.

106.1 in Cleveland is now broadcasting The Breeze off of WGAR HD2.

With the controversy making global headlines over that certain Christmas song, will it result in some changes at 102, big or small?

Doubtful. The social media pissing matches and whining will die out in a few more days and by January it will be business as usual. Could they take a slight dip in the December numbers in favor of Majic? Perhaps. But I think enough of the January-November audience for both Majic and Star is different enough than the Christmas audiences that things should just go back to normal.

WDOK needs to go back to the old soft rock format and get rid of the voiceover heard at the end of every song. It’s really annoying.

I agree with you.  The current January-November format stinks.  Everything from the imagining to the music approach (sounds like a cross between Q104 and The Lake).  Plus, the DJ lineup has gotten weaker over the years.  Time for a new approach.
