Fred Griffith – who had a near 30 year run as host of the Morning Exchange on WEWS, and spent a decade-plus at WKYC as a commentator and helping to get their late morning chat show (now known as Live on Lakeside) off the ground, has passed away at age 90.

He was a local icon as MX host, and was influential in national TV as well, as he turned the Morning Exchange from an “anchor behind the desk show” under Alan Douglas, to the “co-hosts chatting on the couch” show under his watch that was the template for Good Morning America and all the other morning shows that followed.

I remember watching “The Morning Exchange” with Fred Griffith when I was a kid. He will be missed, RIP.
