Penske Media (Rolling Stone’s current owner) will be launching a new set of music charts this coming week that are based on data from BuzzAngle Music–which will be renamed as Alpha Data, and in which Penske also has an ownership stake. The new charts are designed to compete against Billboard’s–with at least one of which (the Trending 25) incorporating radio airplay.
The charts have now launched–and radio airplays don’t factor much into them…
.@RollingStone has revealed the methodology behind its Top 100 Songs, Top 200 Albums, Artists 500, Trending 25 and Breakthrough 25 charts.
