Salem Media’s new 1260 AM in Boston will probably be business and financial talk radio–got the old WBIX call letters that used to be at 1060. Ah, memories of Bonnie and Brad Bleidt…. (All Access 2005: “Former WBIX-A/BOSTON owner BRAD BLEIDT was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in jail and three years of “supervised release” MONDAY (12/5) for the fraud that swindled 125 investors out of $30 million. BLEIDT used about half of the money to buy and run WBIX, which he lost after a failed suicide attempt exposed the fraud. “)

1260’s signal is actually not bad within 128. It could be crackly at times but manageable.

OTH, I was driving on 128N by Rt30/Pike exit yesterday morning around 7am. Attempted to tune in to 1430 to hear FOx Sports morning show and it a buzz-saw sound. Awful.

I don’t know if any of Salem Communications’ other business stations use long-form programming from Bloomberg Radio, but they won’t be able to do so in Boston since Bloomberg leases WXKS-1200 and airs Bloomberg Radio network programming 24/7.

    Raccoon Radio recalls:

Ah, memories of Bonnie and Brad Bleidt…. (All Access 2005: “Former WBIX-A/BOSTON owner BRAD BLEIDT was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in jail and three years of “supervised release” MONDAY (12/5/2005) for the fraud that swindled 125 investors out of $30 million. BLEIDT used about half of the money to buy and run WBIX, which he lost after a failed suicide attempt exposed the fraud. “)

Prior to and after the Brad Bleidt fiasco, Alex Langer owned the old WBIX-1060.

It was Langer who sold the station to the Holy Family Communications a few years back.

Does anyone know the target date for the switchover?

I would think this would be a quick, easy, and normal transaction…surprised it hasn’t happened yet.
