Any idea what the weekends will look like on WBNX?

Perhaps Rev. Angley can host a horror movie on Saturday night.
And on the days he’s off in Africa it can be hosted by the true horror, “That Thing” that he calls a toupée.

    Ouch!

Remember, once upon a time TV 55 brought back The Ghoul to host their late night Friday movie.

Any idea what the weekends will look like on WBNX? Could WBNX get “My Net”? How much programming do they have? For the most part, it’s interesting to talk about all this, but far less interesting to actually watch.

The CW programming on Saturday mornings will be replaced by two hours of Jack Hanna and an hour of the drama Heartland.
Not sure if they can afford MyNet affiliation if they couldn’t afford the CW. That would only be possible through new ownership.

My Net isn’t even really a network – it’s a programming service that airs reruns, so it wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg if 55 really wanted it.

Personally, I think 55 will just stay independent, and come fall air movies in primetime during the week.

If you look, they’ve long aired tons of movies on the weekends (as they couldn’t during the week due to CW programming), so now with the time on their hands, I’d be shocked if come September (when the affiliate switch will have settled in) WBNX wasn’t airing movies at 8p 7 nights a week.

If WBNX is put up for sale Raycom should buy it for it’s UHF frequency and get off RF 10 once and for all.

That would be nice.  Or else swap with 61 if Univision sells.

One of the full power stations should pick up the Decades channel.  It is terrific.  Ed Sullivan, Laugh-In, Dick Cavett Show every night plus old black and whites like Lucy, Our Miss Brooks, I Married Joan plus great documentaries.  It runs as 20.5 on low power WQDI which broadcasts from a low cell phone tower on W11th Street and barely gets 15 miles.

WBNX is already now going by “WBNX-TV. We’re Better ToGether.”  The bug what that slogan showed up today during the screenings of “The Addams Family” (the 1991 movie version) and “Over the Top” (the 1987 movie about arm wrestling).  It’s also on the website too.  Basically, it’s the same “WBNX-TV” font from the CW logo they’ve had, but with the slogan added.

Maybe they can bring back The Ghoul to keep the station alive.

WBNX is adding two more subchannels according to RabbitEars.Info:

    55.5 – Start TV

    55.6 – Decades

Start TV is basically the female equivalent of sister network H&I (airing on 55.4) – cop/lawyer/drama shows, but with more of a woman’s touch

Of course Decades is a Me-TV sister classic TV network which has been airing on low power WQDI 20.5

WBNX has no network HD programming to run (despite the fact they took forever to run CW shows in HD), and no spectrum to share with any other stations, so why not run as many turnkey 480i subchannels as possible?

Now, WTVQ in Lexington, KY is an ABC affiliate… that has seven subchannels. Seven! Two of them (ABC and MyTV) are 720p, the rest are 480i. It has to be a mess.

Recorded in Ultra Stereo, the ultimately superior cousin to Normal Stereo!
