Well, it’s getting to be that time of year again…the Christmas music will soon be front, center, and plentiful.
In Cleveland, the traditional participants in 24/7 yuletide are WDOK Star 102.1, WMJI Majic 105.7, and WFHM 95.5 The Fish.
So who flips first and when?November 12, 2018 at 9:05 am #184416
My 101.7 will be the first to switch. They’ve gone all Christmas as of 9am this morning.November 12, 2018 at 1:23 pm #184424November 15, 2018 at 9:37 am #184449
Star 102 has officially flipped to Christmas as of this morning. Making them the first for Cleveland.November 15, 2018 at 2:35 pm #184453November 16, 2018 at 6:37 pm #184465
WMJI has flipped the switch to all Christmas this morning right after “The Nolan, Malone and Kulik Morning Show”.November 16, 2018 at 6:52 pm #184466

I was surprised to hear Star 102 make the switch yesterday, considering last year’s big to-do with the I-X Christmas Connection and the broadcast tie-in with Fox 8 in the Morning. Come to find out (I’ve been away from Fox 8 all week) that Kenny’s on nights this week and everyone else is “Kickin’ It” in his place, so that’s probably why they decided to do it on their own, without the tie-in at the Christmas Connection.
I just wish 102 would expand their playlist. You’d think, being “Cleveland’s Official Christmas Music Station,” they’d go all-out and play some different songs than what sounds like a 75-track library. (It’s probably more, but it gets repetitious, no matter how much I love Kelly Clarkson and “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Why not play the Mariah/Bieber version of that song, or more of Kelly’s Christmas hits? She had a whole album and, like, four separate single releases.)November 24, 2018 at 11:00 am #184574
The Fish switched to a “blend” of Christmas music and its regular Christian music format on Thanksgiving day. I think this is going to be their new tradition since last year.November 29, 2018 at 3:27 pm #184649

WDOK posts on its website that it’s not playing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” because of its lyrics. Now they’re taking a poll to see if they should play it again.I agree..bring it back…..if they ban that song, who knows what others they may ban.And results so far show people want that song back on the Christmas playlist…..and the comments also say the same thing.

Forgive my ignorance, but…what are the “offensive” lyrics in this song? I truly have no idea.November 30, 2018 at 2:40 pm #184666November 30, 2018 at 10:33 pm #184671
Just add it to the list of holiday specials and things that are suddenly offensive this year, like Rudolph and the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving “scandals”.
As for me, I’m tempted to download MORE versions of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” because I’m a rebel and the 10 versions I have aren’t enough. >:)
