I’m hoping the digital conversion would give W35AX bigger coverage in the Cleveland area. Could they end up going by just WAX if it happens?

WAOH is now testing on channel 29. I rescanned the TV and noticed they popped up today. But I didn’t see any subchannels yet, just 29.1 which is Retro TV.

Still no sign of W35AX in Cleveland. I wonder what is taking so long, especially with WAOH 29 already digital? Also, it doesn’t appear WAOH will be adding any diginets anytime soon.

I’ll watch “The Son of Ghoul” when I get the chance. I have a TV that can pick up analog signals, but it’s such a pain in the you-know-what to pull W35AX in with a reasonable picture that I no longer bother.

Not getting W35AX with an indoor antenna in southeast Cleveland. I was hoping to be able to get the channel when it went digital.
Are others picking it up in Cleveland metro?

Just checked and I am getting ch. 16. It looks cheap and the picture quality isn’t much, but at least it is coming in and I can occasionally catch some of the shows on this channel I like.

W16DO isn’t a very robust signal since the power is low, but it does make it outside Cleveland pretty far due to its high transmitter height up the tower. In the “other forum” people have had luck in areas like Canton, Litchfield, Euclid, and Akron… but they were all using outdoor antennas. Also, the coverage pattern has a northern null (which you could be in)… http://www.rabbitears.info/contour.php?appid=1593732&map=Y , so an indoor antenna may be inadequate in that situation.

I’m in south Parma and using indoor antenna. Picture quality looks a little cheap, although it is much better than the snowy picture on 35 and is definitely watchable now. However, I’m not sure if there is anything worth watching on Retro TV. Hopefully they can switch to something with a little better programming, maybe This TV.

Channel 29/35 (16) has their Sports Talk Show host return and the first time on the new digital signal. Speaking of local, has Son of Ghoul premiered on the new signal yet?

Maneuvered my antenna and finally got Channel 16 Retro tonight. It seems like the volume is way louder than the other stations. Anyone else noticed this? Also getting good locks on WDLI 17 TBN and WEAO 49 PBS. Both of these from the Akron/Canton area. No sign of WVPX 23. Is 23 running on full power at this time?

That is rather unusual that you can receive WEAO and WDLI but not WVPX. WVPX has quite a bit of power pointed in your direction. In fact, WVPX has more power aimed your way than WEAO and WDLI do… http://www.rabbitears.info/pattern.php?request=ant_pat&ant_id=87420&rotation=0&erp=1000

I live 1.6 miles from the WVPX tower, but they only shoot 44 kW of power my way, compared to over 900 kW in your direction!! Maybe if you move your antenna again, you’ll get channel 23, but you could then lose WDLI and WEAO. That’s just how it happens sometimes when you’re working with an indoor antenna.

Windy days can play havoc on digital signals, which may be why 23 is kinda wonky.

Price of doing business with digital signals.

I’ve noticed this exact same phenomenon too. But from what I’ve read and experienced, it is caused by trees. The trees can block around 90% of UHF signal and 60% of high-VHF signal, so when the branches and leaves sway in the wind, the signal is weaving in and out. This appears as fluctuations on the signal indicator. I don’t have this problem when I rotate my antenna to where there are no nearby trees.

I’m getting channel 16 here in Newburgh Hts.

Gotta say, having sampled Retro TV a bit, it’s the worst of the classic TV diginets.

Most of the stuff is out of the classic TV dollar store.

I confess to maybe being spoiled by 19.2 Me TV and 8.2 Antenna TV, but Retro TV just looks second tier.
