Adams Radio Group has named radio veteran Johnny Maze as the new Program Director for WZBH “The Beach” and WGBG “Big Classic Rock” in Salisbury-Ocean City. Maze will also serve as PM drive for WGBG.
Maze most recently programmed rock/classic rock combo KICT and KFXJ for E.W. Scripps in Wichita, KS. Under his leadership, both stations achieved success in their target demo and in the most recent Fall 2015 ratings. KICT was #1 Adults 25-54 and KFXJ placed 3rd. Prior to his time in Wichita, Maze programmed rock stations in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Kentucky. Maze began his career on air in his hometown of Houston, Texas with KTBZ. He is a supporter of the JDRF, the Humane Society, where he has adopted his dogs from area shelters, and local promotions to help area food banks, Goodwill and anything that brings smiles to kids in need. Born in New Jersey, raised in Houston, TX, Maze received his BFA in Communications from Sam Houston State University. He’s a huge college and pro football fan, loves baseball, playing golf, poker and spending time with his dog SJ. Growing up on the water, he is looking forward to again being close to the ocean. “I can’t wait to get there, roll up my sleeves and work with the talented staffs of both WZBH and WGBG and closely with newly appointed VP/GM Cheryl Salomone. I am excited to be part of the team working hard to expand our service to the local communities and bring these heritage stations to new heights in ratings and revenue. Plus, it’s been 16 years since I’ve lived near the ocean, so that doesn’t hurt!”
Ron Stone, CEO of Adams Radio Group said “Johnny is the final piece of the puzzle and he will be instrumental in solidifying our positon in the market. His participatory management style and leadership will provide everyone at our cluster a chance to be part of the building blocks that will no doubt astonish us all.”
