Dr. Drew Pinsky announced on this morning’s Kevin & Bean show on CBS Alternative 106.7 KROQ Los Angeles that the syndicated Loveline will end its run on Thursday, April 28.
Pinksy joined what was the “Ask A Surgeon” on KROQ DJ Poorman’s show in 1984 before quickly becoming a co-host in what was retitled Loveline. Poorman was replaced as co-host by Riki Rachtman in 1993 and joined by Adam Carolla in 1995 around the time it went into national syndication leading to Rachtman’s departure a few months later. Carolla would leave at the end of 2005 for his syndicated morning show and Pinsky would later be joined by Stryker and later ‘Psycho Mike’ Catherwood as co-hosts.
Pinsky and Catherwood will continue their midday show on Cumulus’ 790 KABC Los Angeles that airs weekdays from 12-3pm. He will also expand his weekly podcast with Adam Carolla into a daily show.
Westwood One had announced earlier this week a new syndicated music show hosted by Matt Pinfield that will take Loveline’s slot on many of Cumulus’ owned Rock and Alternative stations.
As far as I am concerned, Loveline ended in 2005.
