Chicago Public Media and College of Dupage’s Jazz 90.9 WDCB Glen Ellyn IL have reached a settlement over the interference caused by Chicago Public Media’s 91.1 W217BM Chicago that will see the groups start a “creative collaboration”.
Chicago Public Media has been operating W217BM with 10 watts/365.2m from the Willis Tower instead of its licensed 99 watts due to interference complaints from WDCB since shortly after its launch in 2014. To help satisfy the issues, Robert Feder reports that CPM and WDCB have agreed to a long-term arrangement to have 90.7 WRTE Chicago continue to simulcast WDCB to fill in the station’s coverage holes in downtown Chicago. WRTE operates with 6w/107.3m.
W217BM carries CPM’s “Vocalo” younger skewing public radio programming originating on 91.5 WBEZ-HD2.
