Golden Isles Broadcasting has closed on its acquisition of Classic Hits “Big 92.7” WMOG St. Simons Island GA from iHeartMedia’s Brunswick Station Trust and relaunched it as “92.7 SSI” WSSI at 5:10pm today.
The revamped Classic Hits format will focus on hits of the 70s and 80s and is debuting with the usual 10,000 songs in a row starting with Prince’s “1999” and Loverboy “Working For The Weekend”.
The flip comes after a stunt loop with sweepers stating to ask your friends about what’s going on at 92.7 and indirectly mocking iHeart for the station being “neglected and almost thrown in a closet” pinpointing its lack of local programming. WSSI joins a Golden Isles Broadcasting cluster that also includes Country “104.1 The Wave” WRJY Brunswick and CHR “Magic 105.9” WXMK Dock Junction in the coastal area between Savannah and Jacksonville FL.
