After nine years as Program Director of Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters Country “Go Country 105” KKGO Los Angeles, Tonya Campos has exited the station.
Campos had been with the station since shortly after its launch in February 2007 first as Music Director and then replaced Mike Johnson as PD a few months later. She also served as APD/MD/On-Air at Emmis’ 93.9 KZLA until it dropped Country in 2006. Station Manager Michael Levine will add Programming duties until a replacement is found.
The exit of Campos leaves KKGO with only two fulltime on-air hosts: Morning host Graham Bunn and afternoon host Paul Freeman. Country artist Cassadee Pope is currently filling in the vacant midday slot. Between the sales of some of Mount Wilson’s Monterey properties and the lack of filling some of the vacant positions there were some rumors of a format change or sale of KKGO. However Michael Levine told Country Aircheck today, “We have no intention of ever changing formats.”
