105.1 The Bounce premiered in July with a historic response from the Motor City. Now, we’re ready to proudly introduce our first set of Bounce Ambassadors, who will serve local fans as their primary anchors and DJs. The first three names are very familiar to area listeners. Detroit natives Suga Rae, DJ Dinero and Reggie Reg are ready to entertain, inform and “Bounce” with their hometown family again. Additionally, listeners will experience a sweet treat as they get to know Deongello “GELLO” Vanorsby, bringing his highly acclaimed “GELLO SHOW” to Detroit from Phoenix, Arizona. Here’s more on each “Bounce Ambassador”:
Suga Rae: Given the nickname “Motor Mouth” by her preschool teacher, Suga Rae was destined to become a radio personality. While most kids dreamed about becoming doctors, lawyers or astronauts, Suga Rae had no doubt in her mind that she was going to be on the radio. She attended Wayne State University and Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts. For the past few years, Suga has entertained cities like Dallas, Austin & Seattle but now she is ready to come home.
DJ Dinero: Michigan native DJ Dinero has been an essential part of the Detroit music scene for many years. Dinero mastered his craft while attending Eastern Michigan University, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degree. Dinero got his start working at numerous nightclubs/concert Venues in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, Ypsilanti, Lansing and more. He’s been part of some of the largest music events in Metro Detroit and his smooth and silky hosting style and mixing skills have been a fixture on local radio for years!!
Gello: Gello’s passion for radio started in his teenage years in his hometown of Phoenix AZ. He would listen to his favorite station and dream of the day he would be behind the microphone. From promotions, board operating, weekends on air, morning show producing, Night show Host, Afternoon Host and Morning drive radio Host, Gello wanted to do it all. With a radio career expanding 10+ years, he feels he’s barely scratched the surface. Smiles and positivity was a motto his mother instilled in him since birth. “Growing up my mother always told me my purpose was to LOVE. What better way to show that love than be on the radio.
Reggie Reg: Reggie Reg Davis “Everybody’s Cousin” has done TV & Radio in markets such as Greensboro, N.C., Tampa Florida and Los Angeles. Winning several radio personality of The Year Awards from various local radio & records trade groups, he also won many Community Outreach and Advocate Awards.
A fixture in Detroit, Reggie was granted an honorary degree from the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts in 2004. In 2015 he received a lifetime Achievement Award from the Detroit Entertainment Awards group. And Reggie was recently granted the 2016 Heroes & Headliners award from the African American Leadership Committee. In 2014 he was appointed Deputy Manager for the Department of Neighborhoods by Mayor Mike Duggan.
“We have been amazed at and humbled by the response to this station! Every listener we encounter has their own interpretation of what our BOUNCE music means to them, therefore we want each tune in to both meet their expectations and be special!” said 105.1 The Bounce Program Director Al Payne. “After a thorough search, we’re proud to announce our first wave of Bounce ‘Ambassadors’, who are responsible for navigating nearly a million Detroit Throwback Hip Hop and R & B fans through their time they spend with us.”
